Hair loss can be devastating for women and it can really affect confidence and self-esteem. While it’s true that men are more likely to lose their hair, hair loss in women is surprisingly common.
What causes hair loss?
Androgenic Alopecia:
This is hereditary female-pattern hair loss. In men, pattern baldness often starts at the hairline, but in women, the first thing they often notice is hair thinning at their parting.
Hormonal imbalance:
Hormonal peaks and troughs can also cause hair thinning and loss. Hair can look healthy and shiny during pregnancy but afterwards the drop in hormones can cause hair thinning. Falling hormone levels after the menopause can have the same effect.
Thyroid problems:
If your body produces too much or too little thyroid hormone, hair thinning can occur, because one of the hormone’s functions is maintaining healthy hair growth.
Stress:
Physical and emotional stress can cause hair thinning and loss whether it’s because of the effects of stress hormones, you probably don’t look after yourself as well when you’re stressed, or the fact that it weakens your immune system and slows healthy hair growth.
Illnesses and medications:
Health conditions like polycystic ovaries can cause hair loss, and hair loss is a fairly common side effects of some medications like blood pressure medications or statins. Cancer patients will often lose their hair as a result of chemotherapy, as the drugs target healthy cells (those in the hair follicles) as well as cancer cells.
Always get hair loss checked out
Unexplained or sudden hair loss should always be investigated by a doctor or trichologist, as treatments and solutions will depend on the cause.

Is it easy to maintain?
It is easy to care for but to keep your system looking as good as possible for as long as possible and to protect your natural hair, there are some aftercare guidelines you must follow. The system will need to be re-aligned in the salon every 4-6 weeks.

The Consultation
Your consultation is completely private as I work on a one to one basis from the modern studio salon in my home. We’ll discuss your hair in more details and talk about your options. Sometimes, a Micro Parting won’t be the ideal solution for a client, and in those cases, another solution like the Volumiser Mesh Integration System might be more suitable.
If you decide to go ahead, we’ll decide on the right length for you and the hair origin you want, plus I’ll get a colour match. A non-refundable deposit is required upon booking, then the parting will be ordered and we’ll book a date in for you to have it fitted. All partings are custom made for each client.
